Circular drinking water chain<\/span><\/span><\/h1>

Softening of groundwater for drinking water production releases residual calcite. Also known as lime or calcium carbonate. Graft material is needed to extract the calcite from the drinking water. Sand used to be used as the standard grafting material. In cooperation with drinking water companies, we have developed an innovative method to generate sand-free calcite grains. This creates a pure residual calcite stream suitable for various high-value applications and sectors.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

In close cooperation with drinking water companies, Van Zutven collects residual calcite and processes it into finished products. A dedicated grafting line was opened in 2024, on which the calcite grain is processed into a new product: Qualitycal.<\/a> Various product codes can be found under the Qualitycal brand, which in turn serve as grafting materials in the softening process. The certification<\/a> (KIWA) of our processing site is carefully aligned with those of the drinking water companies, ensuring that the people of the Netherlands can continue to rely on the reliability of drinking water.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>

Drinking water lime as
sustainable alternative<\/span><\/span><\/h3>
<\/div>

Potable lime is a sustainable alternative to quarry lime. Through this circular approach, we reduce the demand for primary raw materials and significantly lower the ecological footprint. Besides regional transport of the calcite streams, processing takes place using our own generated solar energy, supplemented by green electricity if necessary. Together, we are building a sustainable future in which residual flows are converted into valuable raw materials. Local, responsible and circular.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
